Started a new 6 weeks oriental brush painting session this week at Soft Brush Studio, Alexandria, VA.. I am teaching the group butternut squash with leaves. First lesson is how to match the color of the squash!!!!
Most of my students use the professional grade of Marie's Chinese watercolors with 12 tubes of paint in the box. All colors are mixed from those 12 colors. What colors would you blend to get this color??
I think we have made a pretty decent match, don't you??
For the leaves, we are going to keep black ink for the contrast of dark and light.
I am very proud of my students. They are all really eager to learn, That is the only way I can teach them..
